Book Review Omega in the Shadows

Lost wolves 1Title: Omega in the Shadows (Lost Wolves Book One)

Author: Zoe Perdita

Genre: Gay Romance / Shifter Romance / Paranormal Romance

Rowan Gregor is a CIA agent who vows never to get close to another wolf after his pack is brutally murdered by hunters. Enter Elijah Kane, an efficient and shadowy omega assassin on the run from the CIA. When Rowan is tasked with hunting down Kane, he ends up at the mercy of a wolf with nothing left to lose – a wolf who is sure Rowan is his mate – even when Rowan is sure he’s not gay.

Elijah Kane is hell bent on proving he’s stronger and smarter than every alpha he meets – including the alpha CIA agent sent to kill him. But Rowan lights a fire of lust that Elijah can’t ignore. They share a rare connection – a mate connection – and he’s not going to give up on Rowan until the man sees it too.

Trapped in a snowy wilderness and besieged by hunters, desire sizzles between Elijah and Rowan. Can they overcome their differences, and their pasts, and forge a bond to save their future?

Contains graphic gay sex scenes.

Rowan never wanted to get close to another wolf after hunters killed his pack. But then he gets tasked to hunt down Elijah Kane, and ends up in a dire situation. Elijah on the other hand is confident Rowan is his mate…only one small problem though. Rowan is sure he’s not gay.

Elijah doesn’t give up that easily though, and is confident he can make Rowan change his mind…

The assassins part worked great, and Elijah is an amazing, witty, inspiring character. I liked Rowan too, just not as much as Elijah – but he’s okay. He struggles more, while Elijah struggles to be stronger, always stronger than the others, Rowan struggles with his sexuality, with connecting to other people, with overcoming his fears of the past.

Two amazing characters with sizzling desire between them. What more can one ask from a romance novel? Definitely recommended to fans of the genre.

Author Interview with Veronica Larsen

I’m interviewing Veronica Larsen today, the author of contemporary romance “Entangle”. Welcome, and thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you enjoyed the interview.

Q: Please tell us about yourself.

I am a romance author living in Southern California.

Q: Tell us about your book.

Entangle is the story of a woman who has deep attachment and abandonment issues. She manages to find success in her career, but what Alexis really wants, deep down, is to feel connected to someone. The story begins when she receives an invitation to her ex-husband’s wedding. This is a jarring reminder of how the life she wanted fell apart. She decides that her careful and sound decision making hasn’t gotten her anywhere. Rebelling against herself, she makes a bold and uncharacteristic move. She initiates an affair with her newest employee; Leo, a confident man with undeniable sex appeal. Alexis thinks she’s just enjoying a risk for a change, but deep down what she’s searching for is a place to set down the roots of her heart. Somewhere safe. What she fails to understand is that there is no safe place to set down a heart.

Q: What inspired you to write Entangle?

Entangle is not a novel I ever intended to publish, or even finish. It was just a fun project for me that I intended only for my husband to read, because of it’s erotic content. Initially, I wanted the story to be about lust. And so it was. Though the early drafts were too much about sex and too little about the internal workings of the characters. As the novel developed, this ratio flipped. The novel became more about a woman dealing with her deep rooted fear of intimacy. Lust became a vehicle through which she navigated her fear.

Q: How much time per week do you spend writing/editing your work?

I write every day. Even when i’m not writing i’m thinking about writing. While writing Entangle, I worked on it for 50-60 hours a week at least. Editing is particularly important to me. I did hire an editor, but I spent weeks polishing up the novel before I even sent it to her. And after I got it back, I went through it a few more time with a fine toothed comb to catch anything that slipped through the cracks.

Q: If you could meet three authors, which authors would you choose?

I’d love to meet Ted Dekker, Phillipa Gregory, and JK Rowling.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

I am currently working on Entice, book two of Hearts of Stone. It’s the story of Emily Stone, sister to the protagonist in Entangle.

About The Book

Cover_ebook_EntangleTitle: Entangle

Author: Veronica Larsen

Genre:  Romance (Adult, Contemporary)

Happily ever after? It doesn’t exist.

I wore the big white dress and rode off with Prince Charming. Then Charming changed his mind.

These days, I don’t put my heart in anyone’s hands because I don’t even know where I’ve left it.

So when a ruggedly handsome, blue-eyed man stirs my desires awake for the first time in years, I tell myself it’s a one-time thing.

And now? I’m hooked. Nothing could prepare me for Leo. He weaves simple, deliberate movements into pure, gilded pleasure. Like a sensual alchemist.

I’m so blinded by lust I barely notice the gaping hole opening underneath me, the one that’s sure to swallow me down. Because every time I’ve dared to get close to someone, they’ve cracked me wide open.

Why should this time be any different?

Author Interview with Jennae Vale

I’m interviewing Jennae Vale today, author of time travel romance “A Bridge Through Time”. Enjoy the interview!

Q: Please tell us about yourself.

First, I’d like to thank you for having me. My name is Jennae Vale. I’m the author of A Bridge Through Time, Book 1 of The Thistle & Hive Series. I grew up in New England and I am now living in the San Francisco Bay area with my husband and a menagerie of pets. I have two grown children who are both interested in the arts. I’ve had many and various jobs and businesses over the years, but I’ve never been happier than when I’m writing.

Q: Tell us about your book.

A Bridge Through Time is the story of Ashley Moore and Cailin MacBayne. Ashley is a 21st century girl who lives in San Francisco and Cailin is a medieval Highlander who lives in 16th century Scotland. Through the meddling of a witch with a secret, they find each other as Ashley travels back in time to the MacKenzie clan at Breaghacraig. As she tries to find her way back to her own time, Ashley discovers that perhaps what she’s needed all along is actually right in front of her.

Q: What inspired you to write A Bridge Through Time?

I love history and I can’t imagine anything better than actually being able to travel through time to meet people from different centuries. That’s the thought that got me thinking about writing this story. The characters were talking to me constantly. I found that when I would take my dog for her morning walk I’d hardly remember it because there was a full blown conversation happening in my head. I know that probably sounds crazy, but that’s the way it works for me. My characters talk to me and I listen and then write it all down.

Q: How much time per week do you spend writing/editing your work?

It really depends on the week, but typically I get up in the morning, make my breakfast and coffee and then I’m off to my computer. Some days I’ll spend the entire day writing, other days are devoted to research and going back over what I’ve written to see how I feel about it.

Q: If you could meet three authors, which authors would you choose?

Only three? There are so many authors that I love. My absolute favorite is Susanna Kearsley. But, if I could go back in time, I’d love to meet Mary Stewart and Daphne du Maurier.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

I’m about halfway through with Book 2 of The Thistle & Hive Series. It is my WIP and is called A Thistle Beyond Time. I’m really enjoying this story and I’m hoping readers will as well.

Book Review The Age of Amy: Channel ’63

amy3_coverTitle: The Age of Amy: Channel ‘63

Author: Bruce Edwards

Genre: Young Adult

What if you could tune your TV to the year 1963, and watch—live? A new theme park attraction allows visitors to not only observe, but talk with the people of that turbulent decade. For 16-year-old Amy, it’s the perfect escape from her own time, and the hardships of teenage life in the 21st century.

Things get complicated when Amy falls for a teenage boy in the 60s. Trying to build a relationship across time proves maddening, especially when computers bleep any language that might impact the future. Happily, Amy acquires a “magic clicker” which defeats this annoying restriction. But gaining the ability to speak freely comes with a heavy responsibility: Amy now has the power to alter history!

She struggles to be mindful of her speech, but finds the temptation to reverse the mistakes of the past irresistible. It is November, 1963 on the other side of the TV screen, and President Kennedy is about to be assassinated. Knowing the details of that tragic event, Amy hatches a dangerous plot to save the 35th president, unaware of the deadly consequences facing her long-ago friend, who must carry it out.

In this magical realism novel, 16 year old Amy gets to visit a new theme park which allows visitors to talk with people from the year 1963. Pretty amazing, but it gets complicated rather fast when Amy falls for a teenage boy from the roaring sixties.

Computers bleep any language that might impact the future, which restricts Amy’s communication with her new love interest, but when she buys a magic clicker to get past that restriction, she also involuntarily gains the power to change history. With the assassination of president Kennedy just around the corner, Amy hatches a dangerous plot to save the president.

With a solid dose of humor, some romance and a lot of adventure, excellent writing, and character development, the author has created a gem of a book that’s unique, creative and entertaining.
