I’m interviewing Michel Lee King, author of “Even Hippies Get The Blues”, a humor/romance novel. Enjoy the interview!
1) Please tell us about yourself.
I am a coffee addicted author living in the shadow of Mount Rainier in Washington. I enjoy writing light and dark fiction, hiking, camping, and coffee. I have a lot of fun palling around with my son and husband when I’m not creating or destroying figments of my imagination.
2) Tell us about your book.
Even Hippies Get The Blues is the coming of age story of Amy Landry, a 22 year old self-professed hippie artist waitressing in Spokane, Washington’s worst restaurant. While she desperately clings to her peace-loving principles, Murphy and his law paint a target on her back. Life falls apart for Amy and she is left with two options: stubbornly stick to her task of picking up the pieces, or let it all fall down so she can rebuild anew.
3) What inspired you to write Even Hippies Get The Blues?
Hippies was one of those stories that didn’t have a set plan. The character came to me as an amusing little daydream while I finished up my debut novel. She nagged as I moved on to other projects and eventually demanded her own story. So, I wrote it. Far be it from me to argue with my muse. She’s a bit tenacious.
4) How many hours per week do you spend writing?
About 35. My son is in first grade and I write while he is in school. After my morning jolt of caffeine infused zombie antidote that is.
5) If you could meet three authors, which authors would you choose?
Jane Austen, JK Rowling, and Michael Stackpole. I greatly admire these three and would love to get their takes on life, love, writing, and their favorite kind of coffee (or tea).
6) What are you working on at the moment?
Currently I am taking a trip back to the dark side of fiction for a fresh approach to the Little Red Riding Hood fable. My character is strong and faces quite a few challenges that were never mentioned in the initial story. I’m looking at a tentative July release for that one.

“Sometimes peace can only come through chaos.”
Amy thought she had it all together. Her goals were set and she was working toward them seamlessly while practicing her peace-loving philosophy.
Her world of blissful ignorance crumbles when Travis, a blond paramedic with a body that can stop a truck, waltzes in to open her eyes… Just after Murphy, and his pesky law, paint a target on her back.
How many times can a waitress be interrogated in one day? Just how much orange acrylic paint can get caught in dreads before an interview? How does one retain their composure while dripping paint nude in their living room and staring down a trespassing police officer?
Michel Lee King writes fiction that has a tendency to mix the light and dark elements of life and focusses primarily on the Literary Fiction and Fantasy genres.
