Author Interview with Teresa Keefer

I’m interviewing Teresa Keefer today, author of paranormal romance novel “Blood Vengeance”.

Author Interview

1)         Please tell us about yourself.

I am a lifelong resident of Indiana, presently living in rural Indiana.  I started reading romance novels when I was in my teens and added the more paranormal, thriller and erotic side of the genre when I was a young adult.  I am an avid reader, once winning a spot on a local parade float sponsored by the library for having read the most books in one year off of their bookmobile (does anyone remember those?)  I graduated cum laude with a BS of Business Administration from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1999 and was awarded an MBA in 2006.  I have been writing since high school, mostly poetry in the early days, and completed my first contemporary romance in 2007 but did not publish that title (Coming Home) until February 2013.  I have 3 beautiful grown daughters and 7 wonderful grandchildren who all live within a 20 minute drive.  I live in the country with my dog, 2 cats and a miniature horse and hope to add a full size horse to the mix this summer.  Besides reading and writing I enjoy crafting, cooking, gardening, movies, music and traveling.  I am hoping that my writing career will lead me to an early retirement from my day job!

2)         Tell us about your book.

Blood Vengeance is about a group of vigilante vampires that seek out sexual deviants, murderers, and other predators on the innocent so that they have some way to find consolation in what they are.  This first book in the Vengeance Trilogy is set in New Orleans so it has some historical recollections of the city when the lead vampire, Vincent Adcock first came to be.  The heroine, Abigail Cooper, has just discovered that she has the gift of mediumship which she inherited from her grandmother and she uses that gift to track down her missing teenaged sister.  It is her gift that leads her to Vincent and the vampires to enlist their help.  They follow her sister’s trail to prostitutes, shady politicians, seedy clubs, and finally to the head of the cult whom she has followed.  This book concludes with a sneak peak into the next book, Vengeance Unleashed.

3)         What inspired you to write Blood Vengeance?

I love vampire stories and I love stories that dabble in ghosts and the paranormal.  Blood Vengeance started off as a short story that just got bigger.  I mean, who wouldn’t want to read about a hot, rich, sexy vampire that is like a knight on a black horse coming to rescue the damsel in distress and then use his powers to entice her into his bed?  As I worked through the details of the story, I thought why not appeal to a more mature paranormal romance audience and throw in some erotica as well…at the time I started the book, True Blood was on HBO and Twilight at the movies not to mention the emergence of mainstream erotica that the Fifty Shades series brought.

4)         How many hours per week do you spend writing?

That depends.  I do have a day job right now so I’m limited to long hours writing on the weekends.  If I were to average my time out, I’d say that I spend about 16 hours per week or more sometimes just writing.  I am hoping that I can start writing on a more full time basis soon!

5)         If you could meet three authors, which authors would you choose?

Oh, that’s easy!  Stephen King, Nora Roberts, and E.L. James…I seriously can’t meet more than 3?

6)         What are you working on at the moment?

I am finishing up my second contemporary romance–Yesterday’s Promises, will be working on the second book of the Vengeance Trilogy more once that book releases, then I have a new series that is called Sisters Three about a family of witches.  I am also dabbling with a line of erotica that I will write under a pen name that I won’t reveal just yet so that I don’t embarrass my daughters and a friend has given me an idea for a psychological thriller series that he would help me with.  I don’t foresee running out of ideas anytime soon!  Anyone who is interested in what I have going on can find me on Facebook at

About Blood Vengeance

Author: Teresa Keefer

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Abigail Cooper has a gift.  A gift that allows her to ‘see’ things that are only visible to those who understand just how thin the veil between the human world and the spirit world really is.  When Reilly, the teenaged sister in her charge, goes missing Abigail’s gift takes her to the steamy southern city of New Orleans.

Vincent Adcock has a secret.  A centuries old secret that has the potential to destroy him and his small group of colleagues if ever discovered.  Quite content with his wealth and the immortal life he leads in a penthouse high over the city of New Orleans, his very existence is put in danger when Abigail turns up at his door.

Abigail knows what he and his colleagues are.  Vampires who scour the streets of the south for human predators and turn them into prey before they unleash their cruelties on innocent victims.  Her communications with the spirit world have convinced her that Vincent and his group of vigilantes are the only ones that can help her find and rescue her sister from the danger she has been lured to.  What she wasn’t prepared for was her own seduction by the wealthy vampire’s raw sexuality combined with his ingrained southern gentleman ways.

Follow Abigail and Vincent and the band of vigilantes as they enter a world of cults, drugs, prostitution and murder in a race to find and rescue teenaged Reilly before it is too late.  Will they succeed and what sacrifices will be made as time runs out…

About the author

Teresa Keefer is a self-published author by night and a human resource professional during the day.  Her primary interest is romantic fiction; however, she has been known to dabble in other genres when the mood strikes her.  Being an avid reader of everything from non-fiction to horror to romance and erotica since she was young, her dream of becoming a published author herself became a reality in 2013 when she published a contemporary romance she completed in 2007.  She is a current member of Romance Writers of America as well as the Indiana Chapter of RWA.

Coming Home was released in February 2013 through Amazon’s Create Space and Kindle Direct Publishing.  Blood Vengeance-Book 1 Vengeance Trilogy was completed and released by the same platforms in July 2013 with the subsequent books due to release in 2014.  She also has written several short stories and essays as well as poetry which may be found on

First-hand experience breathes life into her stories because they are set in places that she has visited.  Coming Home is set in the beautiful, peaceful Smoky Mountain area of East Tennessee, which is her favorite place to relax.  Blood Vengeance is set in the steamy, seductive New Orleans, a place where she and her daughters visited and to which she hopes to return.  We should also watch for locations such as Las Vegas, New York City, Washington D.C. as well as some fictional locations that she has created in her own mind.  She says that if she is able to start working on her bucket list soon, there will also be a visit to Ireland and hopefully a story from there too.  Her favorite author saying is ‘be careful what you say or do…you might end up in my next novel’.  Not to say that her fictional characters bear any resemblance to actual people, living or deceased.  Readers have said things like ‘she pulls at the heartstrings’ and ‘she makes you feel like you are right there’ when reviewing her books.  She says between book ideas that are fed to her by friends, her own imagination is continually coming up with new book ideas and she has no less than three works in process at a time.

Teresa is a lifelong Indiana resident living in a rural community in the east central portion of the state.  As a single mother of three daughters, she returned to college as an adult and earned an MBA from Indiana Institute of Technology.  Teresa has spent over 25 years in the human resource profession and has often threatened to write a humorous depiction of life in the human resource profession.  Oh, the stories she could tell!  She has been known to debate political and social issues with passion and generally does not back down, sometimes resorting to dry sarcasm to prove a point.  In addition to spending time with her daughters and grandchildren she has a lot of other interests that compete for her time such as cooking, sewing, gardening, crafting, studying spiritualism, and traveling.
