Author Interview

1)      Please tell us about yourself.

I was born and raised in Sin City aka Las Vegas, Nevada…and no I don’t live in a casino! There is a whole normal functioning city outside of The Strip. For being from such an exciting city, I don’t get out much due to my hobbies all being at home. I am a full-time mommy of one of the cutest little boys in the universe and most of my spare time is spent writing, hanging out with my husband, or playing MMO’s. I am a big fan of Starbucks (writer fuel), A Game of Thrones TV series (Drama anyone?), and my favorite place to vacation is Disneyland (I could ride Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones all day).

2)      Tell us about your book.  What inspired you to write Down to Business?

Down to Business is a new adult romance that takes place in Long Island, New York. It’s about a small town girl named Autumn Malone who plans  to work at her families failing restaurant for the rest of her life, until she suddenly gets a scholarship to Adelphi University. On her first day of college she meets Hamptons born Vinny Mazzola, who introduces her to more drama than she ever expected in her college experience.

My inspiration for writing Down to Business comes from seeing a lot of indie authors making it big writing new adult novels, some of which I knew before they were big names. The story inspiration for Down to Business stems from my love of contemporary romance, Italians (since I grew up in an Italian household), and my obsession with food (because Italians love to cook and eat)…you’ll notice my characters eating a lot.

3)      How many hours per week do you spend writing?

When I am working on a novel, I will try and write at least one to three hour a day. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t, but I can usually finish a novel in 4-5 months if I work consistently on it. Some days I think about writing a lot, but I am a great procrastinator…thinking about it counts…right?

4)      If you could meet three authors, which authors would you choose?

1.)     Lisa Kleypas- She is my idol and inspiration.

2.)     George R.R. Martin- If you don’t know who that is, he wrote the A Game of Thrones series that is also a hit HBO drama (If you’re not watching it, you should be).

3.)     Janet Evanovich – Stephanie Plum is one of my favorite heroines ever and I imagine the woman behind her is just as amazing and hysterical.

5)      What are you working on at the moment?

I am working on the second book in the business series called Taking Care of Business, due out Summer of 2014.

While everyone else headed off to college, small town girl, Autumn Malone, stays behind to help manage her family’s failing restaurant. Two years later, when a scholarship at Adelphi University comes her way, she can’t resist the chance to start a new life. The one thing that she isn’t planning on…is falling for irresistible Vinny Mazzola.

To outsiders, Hamptons born Vinny Mazzola has it all: good looks, money, and an esteemed reputation. While studying business at Adelphi, the last thing he expects to do is fall in love with awkward Autumn Malone, who forces him to ask himself what’s really important in life.

When the opportunity arises for Autumn to work at Vinny’s family-owned Italian restaurant, Mazzolas, it seems like a perfect way for her to get to know him better. That is until she meets his over protective mother and his conceited ex-girlfriend who both want nothing more than to get rid of her. Between frats, family, friends, and foes, when it comes down to business, will Autumn and Vinny have to sacrifice everything for a love they can’t live without?
