I’m hosting an interview today with S.L. Morgan, the author of YA fantasy novel “The Legacy of the Key”, the first in the Ancient Guardians series. She’s currently touring her book and was kind enough to answer my questions.

1)      Please tell us about yourself.

I am a wife and mother of three beautiful children. I grew up in a small town in California, surrounded by the grandeur of the Sierra Nevada mountains. My husband and I have been married for seventeen years and eight years ago, we moved from California out to the Midwest.

I became an avid reader during all of our travels and many different moves. A little over a year ago, I decided to write a novel series of my own. When I started writing, I never believed that I would enjoy doing it as much as I do. It’s become one of my many passions.

2)      Tell us about your book in five sentences or less.

It’s about the Guardians, who are from another dimension, Pemdas; who are sworn to protect the people of Earth from threats from other worlds. The Guardians are forced to reveal their secret presence on Earth when Reece Bryant’s life becomes threatened. Unbeknownst to her, she is the link between Earth and all other worlds existing. Everything changes when she is brought into this enchanting dimension. Not only will she fall in love with Pemdas, but she will fall in love with Levi Oxley, one of her personal Guardians, putting her life in greater danger than ever before.

3) Where did you get the inspiration from for Ancient Guardians: The Legacy of the Key?

My inspiration came from a variety of different things. I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of ‘life existing outside of Earth.’ This sparked an idea to write a novel of this being fact and create a world of my own and take readers into it, giving them an intriguing escape.

3)      If you could have coffee with three authors (dead or alive), which authors would you choose?

Jane Austen, C.S. Louis and Mark Twain

4)      How many hours per week do you spend writing (usually)?

30-40 hours a week, sometimes more, it only depends on where I am in my novel.

5)      Tell us about your current work in progress.

I am currently writing in the fourth book of my series. Without giving anything away, I can say that the series continues to follow Levi and Reece as they deal with numerous conflicts and go on many interesting adventures.

Wow, you’re on the fourth book so far? Great! Good luck.
