I’m hosting an interview with Astrid Cielo, the author of erotic paranormal romance novel “A Game of Cat and Mouse”. Thanks for answering my questions, Astrid.
1) Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a twenty-seven year old Southern girl who loves to read and write. I am an Emergency Room nurse and I enjoy the fast pace of taking care of critically ill patients. Each time I go in, I am faced with something new and exciting! So my life is a blur of reality and fantasy…I’m not sure which I enjoy more!
2) Can you tell us about your book?
A Game of Cat & Mouse is about a cougar shifter who is in desperate need of a mate. He has lost his parents and feels lost in his position as alpha of his pride. Sure, he’s trained since birth, but he never expected to take over the pride so early. Miranda is just the mouse to pull him back into life and helping him to become the alpha he always intended to be. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy that a tiny little mouse has become the new alpha female and wants her dead.
3) What was the inspiration for A Game of Cat and Mouse?
Unbelievably I was washing clothes and there is a window beside our washing machine that lets an extraordinary amount of light in to blind me as I load the washer. That particular day my mind displayed a golden-eyed male who was lazing by a creek and his mind was filtering over all the things he was responsible for in his life. He was hurting and in need of love, so it was only logical for a tiny little mouse to come into his life! I’ve always been intrigued that shifters are mostly predator with predator! I think other shifters deserve a chance at happiness and what better combination than a cat and a mouse?
4) What was the most challenging part about writing the book?
Trying to make the villain somewhat likeable. My villain had to be ruthless and vindictive, but I didn’t want her to be a psychopath or sociopath. I wanted there to be something that pushed my villain toward the evil acts committed.
5) Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Never give up! If you truly have a story to tell then tell it. Even if nobody reads it, you’ve had the guts to write it! Also, beware the comma…it’s a tricky little punctuation mark!
6) If you could meet three authors (dead or alive), which authors would you choose?
I would love to meet Edgar Alan Poe mainly because I love his works. Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart still gives me chills! I would also like to meet Evangeline Anderson because I absolutely love reading her works. She is an Erotic Romance author who has a series called Brides of the Kindred…an absolute must read! She has plenty of other works that are just as awesome too! Last but certainly not least, I would love to pick the mind of Sylvia Plath. That woman had some stuff running around that mind that I’m sure never made it to paper!
7) Can you tell us about your current work in progress?
I am working on a couple of things at this time. One of them is the second book in the Chronicles of JJ series about the paranormal world that lurks just beyond the human one. For centuries, these creatures have been at each other’s throats. Never to mix. Then the changeling Alpha fell in love with the Vampire Prince and now a prophecy has become known. JJ and her team must uncover the reason the species can’t mix.
I’m also working on the second installment of Pinewood Creek, Begging for Forgiveness is Aspen’s story and I’m hoping that Aspen will find her place…with or without her mate.

Astrid Cielo is a Mississippi girl who enjoys a variety of things. By night, she is a nurse in her local ER, and by day, she is spilling her imagination out on paper.
Astrid began writing when she was a child her stories featuring a variety of characters (including her imaginary friends). When she was in high school she wrote her first completed story and was published twice in poetry anthologies. Gathering her courage, Astrid self-published her first book, Surrender Serenity, Salin’s Salvation, Book 1 and enjoyed every minute of it.
Now she balances her time between being a nurse (which she loves) and writing down the scenes that play out in her mind. She also plays World of Warcraft (which all of her friends think is weird)!
Astrid would love to hear from you!
